Thrive for mothers retreat SEDDON

WELCOME to Thrive for Mothers.. your urban village
(online community space Instagram @thriveformothers)

Thrive is a mothers group with a difference, it is a group all about your transition through matrescence, it is for YOU. This retreat is a special event for you to rest, recharge and meet like minded folk!

Whether this is your first child, or you are adding to your family with more children, congratulations and we welcome you! For retreats, people usually choose to leave their babies with caregivers to soak up the benefits of 4 hours of nourishing time with themselves and others.

This retreat takes the practices we learn at the Thrive for Mothers 6 week facilitated discussion group.. and distills the benefit in a longer form session. If interest is indicated, some or all participants may form a 6 week group following the retreat. Like a Thrive for Mothers group it is created in the spirit of supportive, non judgemental, confidential and open sharing space.

TOGETHER we will cultivate resilience, learn communication, consent skills and mindfulness tools that will make a positive difference to your daily life.

CONNECT with others and co-create this intimate container with us. Give yourself the support you deserve as a new mum as we integrate and make meaning out of the very personal and yet universal experience of becoming a mother.

The group is very informal and designed to be completely permission giving and open. Any facilitated discussion topics will follow what the participants would like to raise, with some light structuring from me, your facilitator. We will integrate mindfulness practice during the retreat to intersperse and relate to the topics raised by the group.

Mindfulness practice has been proven to:

  • increases one’s ability to cope with stress, regulate emotions, and attune to others (Shapiro and Carlson 2009)
  • increases resilience, self-esteem, compassion, and overall well-being (Astin 1997; Feldman et al. 2007; Kabat-Zinn et al. 1985; Shapiro et al. 1998, 2005, 2007)

Discussion themes we explore during a 6 week group are:

  • Parenting today - intention
  • Identity - mindfulness
  • Love - compassion
  • Relating - integrity
  • Creative parenting - mindfulness
  • Contentment - letting go
  • Intimacy and connection - joy of being
  • Family rituals - interconnectedness
